The Golden Coastlines: Zhuhai Chimelong and Shenzhen Bay
From World-Class Ocean Parks to Million-Dollar City Skylines

Zhuhai and Shenzhen, two Special Economic Zones facing each other across the Pearl River Estuary, boast the most enviable coastlines in the Greater Bay Area. Whether you're exploring marine wonders or watching the sunset over the bay, these cities offer the ultimate coastal escape.
Finding a pristine, relaxing coastline amidst the bustling Greater Bay Area is easier than you think. Zhuhai and Shenzhen have brilliantly integrated breathtaking ocean views into the daily lives of locals and tourists alike. This itinerary promises a journey filled with both thrilling joy and coastal romance.
Zhuhai: Marine Wonders & Lovers' Avenue
Known as the "City of a Hundred Islands," Zhuhai is home to Hengqin Island's Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, a global benchmark for theme parks. Featuring the world's largest whale shark aquarium, the park has recently upgraded with AR interactions and drone light shows. For families, watching majestic whale sharks glide overhead, followed by the spectacular "Ocean Defense" nighttime fireworks and hydroboard show, is a once-in-a-lifetime visual thrill.
Leaving the energetic park, head to downtown Zhuhai's Lovers' Avenue (Qinglu Road). This coastal boulevard stretching for dozens of kilometers is the romantic soul of the city. Rent a tandem bicycle, feel the sea breeze, snap a photo with the iconic Fisher Girl statue, and gaze across the Lingdingyang waters at the mega-engineering marvel: the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Shenzhen: Urban Skylines & Bay Ecology
In contrast to Zhuhai's laid-back vibe, Shenzhen's bay area pulses with modern urban energy. The Shenzhen Bay Park in Nanshan District is a 13-kilometer-long green coastal corridor. Free of charge, it offers endless sea views looking directly toward the mountains of Yuen Long in Hong Kong. It is the city's favorite weekend seaside retreat. Spend your afternoon at the park's Egret Slope Bookstore (Bailupo), grabbing a coffee and waiting for the sunset to paint the Shenzhen Bay Bridge gold. As night falls, the towering skyscrapers of the Futian and Nanshan CBDs light up behind you, defining the ultimate "urban coastal skyline."
For Zhuhai Chimelong, take the High-Speed Rail to Zhuhai Station or Hengqin Station, then use the free shuttle. Shenzhen Bay Park is highly accessible: take Metro Line 9 to Shenzhen Bay Park Station and exit right at the water.
Chimelong is massive; use their official app to check showtimes and plan your route. Shenzhen Bay Park is very crowded on weekends and bans bicycles on holidays. Drivers must book parking via WeChat in advance.
