West Kowloon Cultural Waterfront: Herzog & de Meuron’s M+, Palace Museum & Tai Kwun
Global Cultural Epicenter · Contemporary Visual Arts, Imperial Treasures & Harbourfront Sunsets
As the GBA’s international cultural gateway, the West Kowloon Cultural District has evolved into Asia’s largest arts district. Experience M+ and the Palace Museum before watching the golden sunset over Victoria Harbour.
Perched on a prime waterfront peninsula, the West Kowloon Cultural District represents a visionary ambition to connect global contemporary art with Chinese heritage against the iconic backdrop of Victoria Harbour.
Contemporary Beacon: M+
Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, M+ is Asia’s premier museum of global visual culture. Its inverted T-shaped monumental architecture integrates a cavernous "Found Space" excavated around the underground airport railway lines.
Imperial Echoes: Hong Kong Palace Museum
Designed by Rocco Yim, the museum recalls ancient bronze vessels with cantilevered volumes framing sweeping harbour views across three ascending atriums.
Harbourfront Art Park
The adjoining waterfront promenade and Art Park feature rolling lawns where visitors sip espresso and take in twilight views of Central’s dazzling skyscrapers.
High-Speed Rail: 8-min walk from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. MTR: Kowloon Station (Tung Chung / Airport Express Lines) Exit E4/E5.
M+ opens late until 22:00 on Fridays; Art Park lawns are open for picnics and offer the best vantage point for Victoria Harbour sunsets.
